Before becoming a heavy metal superstar, and a staple in the world of horror movies, one of Zombie’s early gigs was as a Production Assistant for the hit children’s show Pee Wee’s Playhouse. No wonder they never showed Pee Wee’s basement.
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY
On top of fronting the legendary heavy metal band White Zombie, and embarking on a highly successful solo career, Rob Zombie has also managed his younger brother’s band, Powerman 5000. Known by his stage name Spider One, Rob’s little bro (Michael Cummings) is the vocalist for the popular metal band.
Rob Zombie has stated that, as a director, he’s more comfortable behind the camera; and aside from a lightning-quick and unrecognizable appearance as Doctor Wolfenstein’s assistant in House of 1,000 Corpses, Zombie hasn’t made cameos in any of his own films. You can get a glimpse of him though, along with the rest of White Zombie, in the hit comedy Airheads, as they tear into their song Feed The Gods.
A ZOMBIE THAT DOESN'T EAT FLESH?!
With the copious amounts of blood and gore in his movies, you might think Rob Zombie has no problem with dismembering and consuming nearly anything, but you’d be wrong. Rob has been an ethical vegetarian for years after viewing slaughterhouse footage in high school. He is also a supporter of PETA.
Zombie turned down an offer to direct Freddy VS. Jason in order to create his own malevolent masterpiece, House of 1,000 Corpses. His decision paid off, as his first offering in the world of horror became a hit, and spawned the killer sequel The Devil’s Rejects.
